Thanks to everyone who attended our July 27 Facebook Marketing Webinar: "Facebook Fan Page Optimization: Optimize and Socialize your Fan Page"!

We had a great crowd, with over 500 participants registered.

Key Points outlined in the webinar included:

• Choose your Fan Page Name wisely!  Don't add words to your name, just use your name.
• Create a Vanity URL at www.facebook.com/username.  Here it is fine to add a keyword to your company name if you choose to be part of your custom url.  Remember, again, choose carefully because you get one shot at this selection.  We recommend it flows with your branding.
• The Info tab on your fan page is key for getting indexed for keywords.  Fill this out completely and use keywords in it.
• Facebook iframe tabs are rendered as iframes on the web and as such they are not always be crawled by search engines.  Search Engine crawling of custom iframe tabs is hit and miss, so don't fully count on it.  This is an issue, but TabSite has a solution!
• TabSite reveals MicroSites!  TabSite is set to launch MicroSite's in beta on Friday of this week.  It allows TabSite users to have a their fan page TabSite and Sub-page content fully indexed on the web as a mini-website, a MicroSite.  No additional cost and full details are in the webinar with more information to come on securing usernames and outlining full functionality.

A frequently asked question about Facebook Fan Pages is, "How do I setup a custom Tab as the Default Landing Page for new visitors to my Fan Page?"

With TabSite, we've tried to make this easy by giving you direct access right from the TabSite Manager  to the Facebook Fan Page Admin area where this is set!

Now fan page Admins using TabSite can simply go to the 'Account Information' area in the TabSite Manager.  Once there, select "Facebook Fan Page Administrative Links".  This opens up links for each fan page you have a TabSite account for with easy access to "Set the Default Landing Tab" and "Edit the Tab Name on Facebook."

Notes:

• Facebook lets you set the default Landing Tab for NEW visitors.  Both Admins and anyone how has "Liked" the fan page are sent to the Wall on return visits.
• You can sync your tab names (what is says in the TabSite Manager and what is says on your Fan Page by going to the "Edit the Tab Name on Facebook" link and then on the tab settings, select "Edit Settings" and clear the name in the box that appears, and save.  See Image 3 below.

Billboard (Facebook.com/Billboard) recently announced a new contest using QR codes for contest entry.  The custom tab on their Facebook fan page uses TabSite as a easy way to add content and images.

This is a great example of the potential uses of TabSite.  As seen below, users can come to the the fan page and scan the QR code with their mobile device.  This then opens up a webpage where the user can enter their contest.
