TabSite | Fan Page Platform Press Release August 30, 2011
Like-Gate from TabSite - Pure Fan-Gating Power!
TabSite is excited to announce the release of a new feature for Gold Plan TabSite users that exponentially improves upon the existing 'reveal tab' image option for Fan-Gating. The new non-fan, Fan-Gate feature allows TabSite users to go beyond just loading an image and allows users complete access to the TabSite suite of tools and widgets to customize a Reveal Tab (fan-gating tab) to display to new visitors who have not yet "Liked" the Page.
The new feature radically advances past the current Non-Fan Fan-Gate image option so much so that we gave it a new name, "LIKE GATE." The NEW Like Gate is available to all Gold Plan TabSite users and is the recommended solution to create custom content only shown to new visitors.
All features of TabSite are available to use in the new Like-Gate! This means you can add a video if you wish, a special text message, images, or use other widget tools like a PhotoShow for just the Like Gate. This exponentially expands the capability for TabSite users to give a custom message to new visitors via a reveal tab (Fan-Gating).
See Like-Gate in action!
The new Like-Gate (for Fan-Gating) is accessed in the page manager area under "My Sub-Pages."
While on the tab you want to create a Like-Gate for, open the My Sub-Pages view and "Like-Gate" is at the top of the box as shown below:
Click the "Like-Gate" link to open this page where you have access to the full suite of TabSite widgets.
Create your Like-Gate reveal tab with any of the TabSite features you want! This gives you great ability to create a powerful presentation to new visitors to engage them to opt-in to "Like" your page! Fan-Gating will never be the same again!
Reminder: Like-Gate is available to Gold Plan users of TabSite and replaces the older, simple Fan-Gating feature.

On August 17, 2011, TabSite Community Manager Mike Gingerich participated in a AppBistro Webinar on the topic:
"5 Misconceptions when marketing your Facebook Fan Page"
The webinar reviewed data to dispel the following 5 misconceptions:
1. Your Facebook marketing message needs to be “clever” to catch attention 2. High frequency is always the best strategy for posting on Facebook 3. The conversation on your Facebook Wall alone is enough to keep fans coming back 4. The News Feed is the best way to reach your Fans 5. Maintaining control of content should be a top priority for all Page Admins
The webinar also provided the audience an indepth look at the new TabSite fan page MicroSite tools. MicroSite's enable TabSite users to push their custom tab content to the web for better search engine indexing, increased backlinks to their fan page and website, and increased social sharing tool integrations.
A few key highlighted points:
Misconception #1 is FALSE
As soon as your marketing campaign becomes too intellectual, too cute or too confusing, your audience is lost
Gimmicks don't work to sell your product
Brand loyalty = result of offering a product that fills a need, not how creative you get with your messaging.
Opportunity: Listen & Learn
Aim to create content that invites participation
Be direct in your message, and always keep the customer benefit in mind
Deliver on your promise
Listen & Learn
Misconception #2 is FALSE!
Contrary to " more is better " and " engagement all the time " studies have shown a correlation between post frequency and fan count to be the inverse.
Lots of talk ≠ engagement
Over 2,600 Fan Pages were analyzed and the number of likes was highest for pages that posted around once every other day. Takeaway: Don't spam your users with content!
Opportunity: Set a Pattern. Find rhythm that works best for you and deliver on your promise. Try creating standard topics to set customer expectations. Analyze + Measure feedback and adjust posting accordingly.
Misconception #3 is FALSE! Instead, we recommend you use wall postings in collaboration with a more well rounded social strategy. Custom tabs are important as they offer engagement tools that Increase engagement.
Takeaway: Don't rely only on the Wall! While the Wall is a component of connection, socialization is done via engagement methods.
Opportunity: Increase engagement through Apps. Look at options such as:
Fan-Gating to gain a "Like" Strong Call to Action!
Giveaways
Contests
Add Social Feed (RSS, Tweets, YouTube, all right in the custom Page so users don't have to leave the fan page. )
For all content breaking down the 5 Misconceptions, view the slides below!
Our goal at TabSite is to continue to bring businesses and organizations innovative and useful fan page tools to make customizing and managing your fan page easier and faster.
We are excited to release our newest widget, the iFrame Widget.
The iFrame Widget makes it easy to "frame" outside content within your fan page. This new widget is available to all TabSite users at the Silver and Gold Plan levels. So for $10 or $15/month you get a large assortment of powerful widgets to bring life and socialization to your fan page!
Users can now bring in outside content to their fan page by simply dragging the iFrame Widget into their Page builder area in the TabSite Manager. A box will open allow you to enter the url of the outside webpage that is to appear on the fan page. Then simply drag your widget to resize the height and width, and TabSite pulls in your outside content.
Since Fan Page's have a maximum width of 520 pixels wide, any content your are bringing in wider than this will be visible via horizontal scrollbars.
Have a mobile site? Simply grab the mobile url and use it in the iFrame Widget to bring all your mobile content to your Fan Page!
See it in action on the Da-Lite Screen fan page. Again, this is available to all users at the Silver and Gold Plan levels!
What a week! Our team has been rolling out new features for our Facebook Page Platform, making it easier and more powerful all the time.
EASY. POWERFUL. SOCIAL. TABSITE
We have a couple key new features that will make life more seamless for adding tabs, removing tabs, and renaming tabs!
Now, with some recent permissions that Facebook has given developers, we can allow users to do more within the manager area, without the need to switch to the Facebook Admin portal. These features include:
Add a New Tab in TabSite and it automatically is added to your fan page
Rename a Tab in Tabsite and it renames on Facebook
Set your Default Landing Page Tab for new visitors right in the TabSite tab drop down
If you accidentally removed a tab from your fan page but still have it in TabSite, now you can select "Add to Fan Page" and it will be added back to your fan page.
Remove from Fan Page - No more 2-step process of removing from TabSite and removing it from the fan page!
These new tools are available to all TabSite users simply by clicking the pencil icon next to any tab in your TabSite Manager. See image below.
What are you waiting for? Customize that fan page with TabSite!
Please note that setting the Default Landing Page tab for your Facebook fan page is for NEW visitors who have not yet "Liked" your page. This is a Facebook setting.
TabSite is pleased to announce the addition of a new feature enabling TabSite users to add the Google +1 button to their TabSite custom Facebook Fan Page tabs.

Press Release TabSite - Fan Page Platform July 29, 2011
Introducing TabSite Fan Page MicroSites
TabSite is pleased to announce a new, innovative MicroSite capability which extends your Facebook fan page custom tabs to the web! Now you have another way to get your Fan Page found on the web.
TabSite is giving every TabSite user the ability to turn your Facebook Fan Page into its own MicroSite. A MicroSite is a mini website with social sharing features.

Automatically pulls in the content from your tabs and sub-pages of those tabs
Ability to secure a custom username url. Example: www.TabSite.com/yourname

Available to all TabSite users
The NEW TabSite MicroSite feature is available to all TabSite users in the TabSite Manager Area. Simply look for the MicroSite button in the left navigation.
Why a MicroSite?
Facebook custom fan page tabs are rendered by Facebook in a iFrame, thereby limiting the search indexing of content on the tabs. This means your fan page custom tabs, using any application, are not reliably indexed by search engines.
To overcome this and make your fan page content more available across the entire web, we are taking your TabSite Fan Page tabs to the web and integrating features that allows visitors to "Like" your fan page from the MicroSite, go to your fan page from the MicroSite, and add value to your page by creating more inbound links to your fan page as well as adding easy-share tools to promote more viral sharing of your tab and sub-page content.
"We believe this new addition of MicroSites adds a much needed dimension to fan page custom tabs. This overcomes the iFrame search indexing limitations and it creates another means to drive more traffic to your fan page via the web. We are excited to be the first to offer this flexible new tool to Facebook Page Admins."

Thanks to everyone who attended our July 27 Facebook Marketing Webinar: "Facebook Fan Page Optimization: Optimize and Socialize your Fan Page"!
We had a great crowd, with over 500 participants registered.
Key Points outlined in the webinar included:
Choose your Fan Page Name wisely! Don't add words to your name, just use your name.
Create a Vanity URL at www.facebook.com/username. Here it is fine to add a keyword to your company name if you choose to be part of your custom url. Remember, again, choose carefully because you get one shot at this selection. We recommend it flows with your branding.
The Info tab on your fan page is key for getting indexed for keywords. Fill this out completely and use keywords in it.
Facebook iframe tabs are rendered as iframes on the web and as such they are not always be crawled by search engines. Search Engine crawling of custom iframe tabs is hit and miss, so don't fully count on it. This is an issue, but TabSite has a solution!
TabSite reveals MicroSites! TabSite is set to launch MicroSite's in beta on Friday of this week. It allows TabSite users to have a their fan page TabSite and Sub-page content fully indexed on the web as a mini-website, a MicroSite. No additional cost and full details are in the webinar with more information to come on securing usernames and outlining full functionality.
