Sweepstakes Coming! Beta to launch January 13!! What if you could run a unlimited number of Sweepstakes on your fan page for just the cost of your Gold Plan TabSite?
Get ready! TabSite is launching a Sweepstakes tool so now you'll be able to customize your tabs and also run sweepstakes on your tabs all with TabSite! No more needing other expensive apps that charge for the number of days for your sweepstakes!
What was your favorite quote or featured new tool from the webinar? Comment below!
First, TabSite Gold Plan users should go to the TabSite manager and on the tab that you want to have the Sweepstakes on, we recommend you use the TabSite widgests and tools to create your page layout, background, header, footer, etc.
Then where you want the Sweepstakes to appear on your fan page, drag the Sweepstakes widget (shown here) to your page from the Widget area.
The Sweepstakes setup portal will open (as seen below). The key areas are:
Pre-Sweepstakes - Where you setup what appears before Sweepstakes goes live
Live Sweepstakes - Setup your main sweepstakes message and form
Post-Sweepstakes - Setup the closing time and message after entry time has closed
Container Properties tab - This is where you set background color for your sweepstakes widget, as well as text and link colors. Note if you have a overall tab background set, the widget will inherit that by default. You can override by using this feature in the widget.
Pre-Sweepstakes Detail:
Enter the Start Date by clicking in the field. This will open a calendar where you select the date. If no date is selected, the Sweepstakes will start and be available as soon as you save and publish the page.
Proceed to the right and set the time, and time zone to use.
In the example below, we added a 230 x 230 px image on top of a white background rectangle. So are Sweepstakes Widget is layered on top of the white box and when the Sweepstakes goes live the form to enter will be viewable within the white area.
Live Sweepstakes Detail: (See Image Below) Create your Sweepstakes introductory message and form here. This is where you outline instructions, create the entry form, set a thank you message to display after submission, and outline the terms, rules, and privacy policy you have.
INSTRUCTIONS: For instructions, you have the option to deliver this as text, text and a image, or simply a image. This will appear above your form on the tab. Choose an option in the "Choose Display Type" line and then use the appropriate tab for Message or Image. At any time you can use the "Preview" button to switch to the preview mode for that area.
FORM: First, enter the e-mail address that you want the form submissions to deliver to. We recommend you type this e-mail address in. (NOTE: We can't guarantee delivery to all e-mail addresses as thngs such as your spam filters can impact this. Please test!) Below this is the "Field Width" which is how wide your form fields will be to fit well within your design. They should never be larger than 480 px to allow room for the field name. You then have the option to rename your "Submit" button, so if you want to say "Enter!" you can, etc.
To change a field name in your sweepstakes form, simply click on the green box with the pencil icon it it. This allows you to rename the field title to whatever you choose. Click the "Add Field" link to add a new field and use the arrows to reorder your fields. The field types can be a simple text entry field or you can select to make it a "Comments" field to allow easier input of more text. Check "Required" if you want the form field to be a required field that must have input in order for submission to occur. Once complete, proceed by clicking "Next" or going to the "Thank You Message" tab.
TERMS: This is the area where you can outline specific Terms, Rules, and your Privacy Policy. Facebook requires a disclaimer that the Sweepstakes is not affiliated with them or us as the App Developer. As a 3rd Party App, use of Sweepstakes via TabSite meets Facebook's guidelines for promotions. So, we have a required message visible at the start of terms and you are able to add your further terms, specify your rules, and outline your privacy policy via text or via urls to that information.
Statement that is always at the top of terms: "This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed associated with, or administered by Facebook or the App Developer of this Sweepstakes. Your entry affirms you understand you are giving a complete release to Facebook and the Developers of this App and that you are not providing your information to Facebook or the App Developer."
TERMS, RULES, PRIVACY: We also give you "starter language" to help you outline further terms, rules of the sweepstakes, and a privacy policy. These are simply starters to help you outline your own full and complete version and these are not meant to be complete and applicable to all situations. It is up to you to outline the needed details to cover your company adequately.
POST SWEEPSTAKES: (see image below) This is where you set the End Date of the sweepstakes which removes the "Live Sweepstakes" form submission from your fan page tab. If no end date is set, then the sweepstakes will run indefinitely.
Enter the End date.
Select method of message in "Choose Display Type." Note: You have the option to outline a message (text and/or image) to display to visitors after the sweepstakes entry time has closed.
Use relevant tab based on selection above to add message and/or image.
PREVIEW: There is a blue "Preview" button at the top and bottom of the Sweepstakes portal enabling the TabSite Manager to click through Pre, Live, and Post tabs to see each view of the sweepstakes. If one area is not shown, check the "Choose Display Type" in that area back in the edit mode to ensure you have it set appropriately.
Once complete, make sure you select "Accept" to save your Sweepstakes widget updates and then on the page tab, you need to use one of the "Save" functions to save the updates to your Page tab (see below).
Lots of POWER, lots of flexibility, loads of ways to customize to create the sweepstakes you want!
To promote viral sharing we recommend using the TabSite "Share", "Send", "Like", "Tweet", and "Google +1" widgets on the sweepstakes page and consider using the "Unlisted Sub-Page" option as your "Thank You" url so you can customize the thank you and have all the social sharing tools right there for users to select on the "Thank You" page!

Tabsite is a pure white label model including an unbranded manager area with significant options for you to implement your brand colors in the manager area, generic non-TabSite urls, ability to map a domain for your login page, fan page tabs with no branding, ability to set the app id message per tab, and delivery of content securely (SSL) to the fan pages with no reference to TabSite. Perfect for web design firms, social media agencies, and Marketing firms, the TabSite platform is a powerful platform empowering you to extend and grow your business.
The self-service fan page platform puts you in control. There is no e-commerce module, simply the ability to add fan pages and add Admins to those fan pages as needed so you are in total control of access and there is no limit to the number of fan pages you can manage.

Did you know? One of the unique features of TabSite is Mobile Friendly Tabs!
As you have likely experienced, the Facebook mobile site and mobile apps for Android and iPhone do not offer a simple ability to access custom tabs on a fan page. Facebook limits you in the mobile version to the Wall, Info, Photos, and Activity. For most apps this means your custom tabs are hidden from viewers accessing the tab on their mobile device.
However, with TabSite this doesn't have to be the case!
When you use the TabSite "Save & Post to Wall" feature, this will post an update to your fan page wall and it will link back to the TabSite custom tab you are posting from.
It is programmed so that if the link in the wall post is clicked, TabSite checks to see if it is a mobile browser, and, if so, we deliver a mobile friendly version of the content to the user. (see image)
This powerful feature sets TabSite apart from many fan page platforms and gives TabSite users ability to post updates to their wall about their fan page tabs that can be viewed by mobile users. With mobile use of Facebook continuing to grow and averaging over 40% of normal daily use, this unique TabSite feature of "Post to Wall" enables you to easily reach more fans and give them access to your custom tab creations!
So, the answer is, "YES!" TabSite gives you a way to reach Facebook mobile users!
Here's the setup process to post to your fan page from the TabSite Manager.
1. From the tab you want to link to, click 'Save & Post" from the Dropdown.
2. Use the pop-up box to customize your Facebook Fan Page Wall post:
You'll get a confirmation message that the post was published to your wall. Below is the mobile view from an iPhone of the Facebook wall post and then the custom tab view aftering clicking the link. The image and "Widget Videos" are linked to the custom TabSite tab.
Here's the custom TabSite tab fully viewable in the iPhone Facebook app.
So go ahead, give mobile users access to your custom tabs by using the "Save & Post" feature!
Since March 2011, page admins have not been able to create any new FBML apps, but FBML apps which were already in existence remained functional.
Facebook announced at it's most recent f8 Developer Conference in September, 2011, that:
1. FBML will no longer be supported by Facebook beginning January 1, 2012. (This means no support and no bug fixes)
2. The final official end date when all FBML tabs will cease to work and will be removed from Facebook is set for June 1, 2012.
The time has come for those last holdouts to fully transition to iFrames and depart from the FBML coding completely, and TabSite is an ideal alternative!
History and Information for Fan Page Admins
1. What is FBML and why do I care?
The answer is that, you don't need to care, unless you already were using FBML on your Facebook Pages. If you fall in the group that doesn't need to know because you don't have any FBML tabs on your fan page, then feel free to skip down to number 2!
FBML FBML is Facebook’s original framework for serving custom content on fan page tabs. This content is served by Facebook, which, in short, means the user’s browser never hits the app developer’s server directly. Instead, Facebook requests the content from the app developer’s server, parses and filters it, and sends it to the browser for display. The result is content served by Facebook on custom tabs.
Static FBML App The Static FBML app was an application provided by Facebook that enabled the creation of FBML based Facebook page tabs. To use the application, page admins simply added the app to their page, and then customize the content by coding using FBML code techniques.
Along with FBML, the Static FBML app will no longer be supported (no help) starting January 1, 2012, and will NO LONGER WORK on pages beginning June 1, 2012.
2. What is Facebook's preferred method for adding custom tabs to Fan Pages?
iFrame Apps iFrame Apps are Facebook’s accepted framework for serving content on fan page tabs. Content is served directly by the developer’s server, rather than being proxied by Facebook’s servers. Because the page is hosted externally of Facebook, it can render HTML, CSS and even Javascript just like any external web page does, which was not the same with FBML. iFrame Apps were launched in March of 2011 and are a big improvement.
All TabSite fan page tabs use iFrame Apps.
3. I'm not a coder and yet I want a nice, custom fan page. What should I do?
TabSite is a great solution for small and medium sized businesses wanting to easily customize their fan page without learning to do any coding. With a easy to use drag-n-build system, TabSite is easy to navigate and has a full suite of widgets and tools including ability to:
Add Videos,
Add/Edit Content using a WYSIWYG editor,
Create Photo SlideShows
Add Facebook Social Plugins
Embed E-mail Sign-up forms
Add your Blog and Twitter feeds
Create a fan-gating mechanism with our Like-Gate tool
and more!
4. Don't wait! January 1 FBML is no longer Supported. June 1, 2012, FBML ceases to work. Now is the time to changeover to a solution like TabSite.
Form Builder Widget to make it easy to build custom forms for your fan page tabs
